Your guided walking tour will take you to the city's highlights and you'll learn about its history. A visit to the upper town reveals the legends and true stories of the country's past powers and rulers. Toompea Hill, uniquely situated, hides spectacular views of the lower town and is a source of pride for both its wild Viking and noble past. Today, it houses the headquarters of the national government and the Offices of the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of Justice. Halfway down the road towards the lower town, once the center of medieval trade, you can hear the legends of the Danish King's Garden. This is where Danish rule began 800 years ago.
The charming lower town welcomes you with a unique atmosphere in Town Hall Square. Crowning the site of a medieval marketplace is the impressive Town Hall itself. These days, this charming place, no longer the city center, boasts inviting open-air cafes and instead hosts seasonal festivals and fairs. After your guided tour of the old town, your guide will share many good tips with you about local food, shops and sights.
